The first francophone
university campus will be opening in downtown Toronto and will be offering
programs to a career that will be supporting the workforce of Ontario. Opening by the fall
of 2021, students from all over the world is being invited to fill spaces in
the classrooms. Skilled workers are
also being sought out with hopes of populating the staff of the first The Francophone University of Ontario.
The first Francophone The University of Ontario will be opening in September 2021.
The Université de
l’Ontario français is going to offer programs in digital cultures, urban
environments, globalized economy, and human plurality.
Programs in
management, law, psychology, communications, and social work will be launching
next fall.
Jason Luckerhoff, the
Vice-President of Program and Knowledge Development, released a statement to
CIC News about the programs.
The statement Jason
released said, “We’re working with the provincial government to ensure programs
are helping Ontario and Toronto have the workforce needed in several fields
where we don’t have enough people specialized and trained.”
The administration is
currently working on creating partnerships with institutions in Africa, Asia,
and Europe with the hopes of attracting international students. After the
partnerships get finalized, students are going to receive credits that will be
recognized both at the affiliated institution and the Université de l’Ontario
français.
The Université de
l’Ontario français is looking partnership agreements with international
institutions that are listed below:
- UCLouvain, Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Saint-Gilles, Mons, Tournai, Charleroi)
- ULB, Université libre de Bruxelles
- ULiège, Université de Liège (Liège, Gembloux, Arlon)
- UMons, Université de Mons (Mons, Charleroi)
- UNamur, Université de Namur (Namur)
- USL-B, Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles (Bruxelles)
- Agence de développement et d’encadrement des PME du Sénégal
- Groupe Sup de Co Dakar
- Université Da Nang
- Université de Can Tho
- Université de commerce du Vietnam (UCV)
- Université de Hanoi
Not only for
French-speaking students. Students from English
language universities in Canada are going to get a chance to study their
preferred programs in French.
Jason Luckerhoff, the
Vice-President of Program and Knowledge Development, said, “University students
taking programs [in English] could take all their electives at the Université
de l’Ontario in French. Instead of just learning French through language
courses they would learn [to communicate] in their field.”
In
Canada, the Université de l’Ontario français will be partnering
with institutions that are listed below:

- Université de Hearst
