Alberta has released the number of candidates and score requirements
of their latest 2 draws under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.
On January 22, 2020, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program
announced that they will be issuing a total of 201 invitations to applicants
for the provincial nomination for permanent residence.
Candidates needed a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score
of over 350 to be invited under the stream.
On January 29, 2020, Alberta issued 150 invitations to the
Express Entry candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System score of as low as
300.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the Alberta
Immigrant Nominee Program to select eligible candidates with a program in the
federal Express Entry System, which manages the pool of candidates for the
Canadian Immigration programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program,
Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
The Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination
from Alberta will receive an additional 600 points towards their overall CRS
score. This guarantees that they will receive an invitation to apply for
Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
One of the main advantages of the Alberta Express Entry
Stream is that this steam offers Express Entry candidates with lower CRS scores
to obtain a Permanent Residence status in Canada.
A great example for this is the latest federal Express Entry
CRS requirement, which was only 472 on February 5, 2020.
In order to be eligible for the Alberta Express Entry
Stream, candidates need to be working in an occupation that supports the
province’s economic development and diversification priorities.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program does not
offer a list of eligible occupations.
It is not required to have a job offer in Alberta in order
to be issued an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program says they will give
priority to candidates that have the following things:
- A job offer in Alberta
- Job experience in Alberta
- A degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution
- A valid job offer
- A parent, child, or sibling that is already living in the province
Alberta invited a total of 501 Express Entry candidates in the month of January 2020 alone.
