Immigration Levels Of Canada Nearly Tripled In May 2020

The immigration levels of Canada got nearly tripled in the month of May this year despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It is said that Canada welcomed 11,000 immigrants in the month of May.

In April this year, only 4,000 new immigrants were welcomed in the country.

India, China, the Philippines, the United States of America, and Nigeria, are the top 5 source countries of the immigrants that came to Canada.

The data was released by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The new data indicates that the country’s immigration system is beginning to normalize amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The hot start of Canada was cut off due to the coronavirus travel restrictions in the early months of 2020.

Each month, 25,000 to 35,000 individuals officially became permanent residents of the country.

In the month of June this year, Canada successfully created nearly 1 million new jobs.

After lifting the coronavirus-related restrictions across Canada, business owners, organizations, companies, and other establishments created jobs for over 950,000 people.

Between the months of February and April this year, a total of 3 million people lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Official data suggests that 2.5 million people did not go to work due to coronavirus concerns.
In a report that was shared with the public last week, 290,000 people returned to their jobs in the month of May.

In the month of June 2020, 953,000 people went back to their works.

The overall unemployment rate in the country dropped from 13.7 percent to 12.3 percent in the month of June.
