Canada has adjusted the median wage requirement that helps them determine if
employers in Canada are required to apply for LMIAs under the high wage or the
low wage streams.
In the latest update for this year, the median hourly wages for the
Temporary Worker Program have gone up in most Canadian provinces and
territories.
Employers from Canada that are hiring foreign employees are required to use
the provincial and territorial median hourly wage so that they could know which
requirements they need to meet for the TFWP (Temporary Foreign Worker Program).
The wage that they are currently offering and the location for the position
will help determine if the employers are required to apply for an LMIA (Labor
Market Impact Assessment) under the stream for high-wage or low-wage market
positions.
According to CIC.CA, the new media wage requirements went into effect on May
11, 2020.
